"Domination" was written during the summer of 1989 when I was in an Asbury Park, NJ-based synth-rap band called TMC+The New Generation with my longtime friend Christian Beach and rapper Tariq Mohammed. We even performed it live a couple of times, but never recorded anything more than a rough demo on cassette. Over the years, I have revisited it and had yet another updated version of the song nearly ready to include on my 2021 debut EP, A Matter of Time. At the last minute, I decided to hold onto it for a bit. And then an opportunity came about in late 2021 to contribute a previously unreleased track for a benefit compilation, so I asked Christian and Tariq to record some parts and send them to me so I could make the recording a virtual reunion of TMC+TNG. That version had a slightly more "relaxed" feel and I unfortunately had to record the vocals while dealing with a breakthrough COVID-19 infection to make the submission deadline. As 2022 began, I decided to work on "Domination" some more. I re-recorded the vocals and added some electric guitar (which I don't really play) to give it a touch of an industrial feel, as that was the direction we were going in during the waning days of TMC+TNG, which we had renamed Interläken Pröbe by that point. Look for this track to be on an album I plan to release in late 2022.
